Hollow City is the sequel to Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children. I read the first book so long ago that it was kind of difficult for me to get acquainted with the sequel. If you pick this book up, I recommend reading the first one in close relation to this one.
Hollow City picks up exactly where the first book ends. Jacob and the other peculiar children are trying to escape at attack that left them homeless and resulted in Miss Peregrine being taken. Once they recover Miss Peregrine in bird form, they set off on a journey to try and find someone to help get Miss Peregrine back and save the children.
The Peculiars face dangerous situation after dangerous situation as they embark on their journey. They run across peculiar animals that can talk, new peculiar children, and creatures that are hunting them. When they reach another loop to seek help for Miss Peregrine, they think they have found safety, but unfortunately are so mistaken.
The book is filled with haunting photographs, just as the first book was. It also comes complete with a surprise twist at the end that I did not see coming. It is a pretty decent story, though I liked the first book much better. I am still curious enough to want to read the third book when it comes out in the future.
